Illustrations Research

My research for artists began with an artist I have studied before: Julien Pacaud. I like Pacaud's work because it is very expressive with the use of colour. However, for me this is not the style I wanted to go for. A suggested search for me was an artist named Alejandro Chavetta. I really like Chavetta's work for similar reasons to Pacaud's, and it works well for me as he uses black and white in many of his images, which I will be using because of using Victorian photographs. This style will be fitting for me as I will try to include colour in my collages.

Victorian Entertainments Posters and Advertisements Research

I decided to better fill my knowledge about Victorian Entertainments, I would look online at posters and adverts for shows and events during the Victorian era. I wanted to see the styles that were used, specifically looking at fonts, layouts, and content. The Band of the 37th Regt Source: amdigital.co.uk [Accessed 17.03.17] These posters gave me ideas about exactly what I was looking for (fonts...etc). It also showed me how so much information was shown on each page. People in these times would be in much less of a rush compared to nowadays, therefore they could stop and read every piece of information that these posters would show.
