Choosing my colour scheme and layout for the E-Brochure was something I decided quite quickly and after experimenting with this and others, worked well.
Colour Scheme:
My initial colour ideas came from the British Library's website. For each exhibition, they use a different colour scheme.
I really liked the turquoise tones and how they contrasted with the very dull beiges and browns from their image of a Victorian poster. This is the page that inspired my overall colour scheme.
For my master page, I used a texture found online (for source see other blog post) which had a beige tint. However, it was not as dull as the image above, so I gave the texture a slight violet tint to create a dullness and yet keep plenty of colour.
Layout:
My layout was based on simple reading. I decided that I wanted every page with an event to have the same layout: Text on one side; Image on the other.
This worked for the majority as the text would fit whilst remaining large enough to read for the purpose of a tablet/digital publication. However, the last event had a lot of information. I could have continued with the layout and kept the text on one side, but that would have meant decreasing the font size and this was not something I wanted to do. I would rather have broken layout consistency a little than one page having smaller size text. I felt that this was a good decision. I therefore moved the table below the image on the other side of the page.
